Shape Neck
(WS) BO 6 (7, 7, 7, 7) sts, work to end. Work 1 row even.

Work as for Front band until piece measures 21 (22, 22 1/2, 24, 24 1/2)" from beg. BO all sts loosely in rib.

FINISHING

  1. Sew shoulder seams.
  2. Sew armhole bands to vest.
  3. Sew side seams, aligning stripes if necessary, and armhole band seam.
  4. Ease Hood around neck shaping; sew in place.
  5. Sew Front band around entire Front and Hood, aligning center of band with center fold of Hood, and ends with lower edge of right and left Fronts.
  6. Using tn, weave in ends.

(RS) Inc 1 st each side this row—86 90, 96, 100, 106) sts; pm each side. Work even until piece measures 14 1/2 (14 1/2, 14 1/2, 15 1/2, 15 1/2)" from the beginning, end with a WS row.

(RS) Work across to marker, place center 10 sts on holder for neck; join a second ball of yarn and work to end.
Working both sides at same time, at each neck edge, BO 3 sts once, 2 sts 1 (1, 2, 2, 2) times, then dec 1 st each side every other row 4 (4, 3, 3, 4) times; and AT SAME TIME, when armhole measures same as Back to shoulder shaping, end with a WS row.

With RS facing, using smaller needles and MC, pick up and knit 13 (13, 13, 13, 15) sts along left Front shaping, 10 sts from Front holder, 13 (13, 13, 13, 15) sts along right Front shaping, 28 (28, 30, 30, 32) sts from Back neck holder—64 (64, 66, 66, 72) sts. Beginning p1, work even in 1x1 rib for 4 rows. BO all sts loosely in rib.
Sew side of neck band and left shoulder.
Set in sleeves, matching shaping.
Sew sleeve and side seams, matching markers.
Using tn, weave in ends.

PULLOVER – MACHINE

BACK

  1. COR. Using WY, CO 90 (94, 102, 106, 114) sts. K 6 R. Break off. Reset RC=000.
  2. Change to MC. COR.

  4. K 1 R.
  5. BO 3 sts at neck edge once.
  6. BO 2 sts at neck edge EOR 1 (1, 2, 2, 2) times.
  7. Dec 1 st at neck edge EOR 4 (4, 3, 3, 4) times. 17 (18, 18, 19, 19) sts.
  8. Shape Shoulders (at armhole edge) when RC=050 (054, 056, 056, 060).
  9. BO 6 sts EOR twice.
  10. BO 5 (6, 6, 7, 7) sts.
  11. Push ndls LHS of center to FWP. Reset RC=038 (042, 044, 044, 048). Work second shoulder as for first, reversing shaping.
  12. Lower Edge Rib: Work as for back.

Neckband

  1. Hang neck edge on 64 (64, 66, 66, 72) ndls as foll: 28 (28, 30, 30, 32) sts from back neck, 13 (13, 13, 13, 15) sts from side neck, 10 sts from front neck, 13 (13, 13, 13, 15) sts from side neck.
  2. K 4 R. Convert to 1x1 rib.
  3. BO loosely in Back stitch.

Assembly
Work as for Hand Knitting Version.

SKIRT-HAND

BACK and FRONT (both alike)
Using MC, CO 78 (82, 86, 90, 96) sts. (RS) Begin St st; work even until piece measures 2 1/2" from beginning, end with a WS row.
Waistband Casing: (RS) Fold casing with WS's facing; * insert needle in next st on LH needle and in corresponding st of CO edge, k2 tog; working each st on needle tog with corresponding st of CO edge, repeat from * across. (WS) Work 1 row even.

Shape Sides
(RS) Inc 1 st each side this row, then every 10 (10, 8, 8, 10) rows 2 times, every 12 (12, 10, 10, 12 rows 2 (2, 3, 3, 2) times—86 (90, 96, 100, 104) sts. Work even until piece measures 34" from the folded casing edge, end with a WS row. Change to 1x1 rib; work even for 1". BO all sts loosely in rib.

FINISHING
Sew side seams, matching stripes if necessary, from hem to beginning of casing. Measure elastic by placing around waist without stretching; cut 1 1/2"to 2" Insert elastic into casing, overlapping ends; sew ends securely together. Sew casing seams. Using tapestry needle, weave in ends.

SKIRT-MACHINE

BACK and FRONT (both alike)

  1. COR. Using WY, CO 80 (86, 90, 96, 100). K 6 R. Break off. Reset RC=000.
  2. Using MC, k to RC=017.
  3. Waistband Casing: Fold first R of MC up and hang sts on corresponding needles (2 sts on each needle).
  4. K 1 R. Reset RC=000.
  5. Inc 1 st ea side E11R 5 times. 90 (96, 100, 106, 110) sts.
  6. K to RC=206. Reset RC=000.
  7. Lower Edge: K 6 R. Convert to 1x1 rib.
  8. Back stitch BO.

FINISHING
Assembly
Work as for Hand Knitting Version.
