For the Embellish-Knit : Instructions, Tips, Hints and Troubleshooting |
IMPORTANT: DO NOT use regular worsted weight (#4) or heavier yarn on the Embellish-Knit! or it will damage the machine! Use only the types of yarns listed on the instructions and at the end of this section! |
STEP ONE |
To thread the machine, pull plenty of yarn from the ball of yarn that comes with your machine. DO NOT use worsted weight yarn. (You can use Simply Soft only after you have learned to use the Embellish-Knit!) Thread the yarn through the lower guide, over the upper guide and down through the tube. (Tip: You can also thread the yarn through the tapestry needle that comes with your machine and drop it through the center of the machine.) Attach the clip weight to the end of the yarn, but let the clip sit on the table to start. Check to make sure all the latches are open. (Tip: you can open the latches using the butt end of the tapestry needle, which is designed for this purpose.) |
STEP TWO |
Holding the yarn with one hand, turn handle in direction of the arrow until the first needle catches the yarn.Note: If your machine is brand new, the handle may feel a bit stiff and will need to be "rocked" back and forth a bit to help spread the lubrication throughout the workings of the machine. This will take a few rounds of knitting to accomplish, but then you're good to go! |
STEP THREE |
Pass the yarn behind the second needle and continue turning the handle slowly until the third needle catches the yarn. (You can push the yarn behind needle #2 using the butt of a tapestry needle.) |
|
Pass the yarn behind the fourth needle and continue turning the handle until the first needle catches the yarn. Loosen the tension you have on the yarn and begin to raise the machine so the clip weight begins to hang more freely.IMPORTANT! |
|
Continue turning the handle until all the needles have caught yarn. Pull down on the yarn coming out of the tube every few turns at the start to make sure the stitches have formed. Move the weights up as needed and let cord untwist.IMPORTANT! |
|
When cord is the desired length, cut yarn at upper guide and continue turning until cord drops through tube. Thread needle with end of yarn and pass needle through the four loose stitches, pull tight. Thread the yarn tail through the center of the cord. |
